Abbot’s Hall’s wedding season runs from 1st April to 31st October each year
Your daytime reception is in the picturesque location of the back lawns of Abbot’s Hall where our beautiful marquee is situated. Your guests will be able to enjoy a drink or two, entertaining themselves with a selection of lawn games and taking in the beautiful countryside surroundings.
There are numerous photographic opportunities from the moment you arrive. While your guests are enjoying themselves on the back lawn, you will have the opportunity to explore our site with your photographer and spend some time together, just the two of you.
Abbot’s Hall Weddings is a stunning setting and gives you the perfect canvas to create your own unique wedding.
Marquee Capacity: 200 guests
For your reception meal, we have a preferred list of caterers who you can choose from; this list reflects different budgets and offerings to fit your budget and vision for your big day. The caterers have the use of the catering tent within the marquee.
If you are planning a lively evening with a disco or live music, Abbot’s Hall Barn can be booked for your evening reception, allowing your guests to dance the night away. The barn will be ready to greet your evening guests allowing them to arrive and enjoy a drink even if you and your daytime guests have slightly overrun.
We have a recommended DJ company who will ensure the dance floor is full all evening. Bands are possible, but these need to be arranged by special request.

We had our wedding reception here in July 2019 and had the most beautiful, magical day. The drinks reception and wedding breakfast were held in a marquee on the lawn around the back of the house and looked stunning. It was lovely to have lots of space on the lawn for our guests to sit in the sun, garden games and photos. During the drinks reception we slipped off to have our bride and groom photos and were able to use any of the museum exhibits we liked. There are so many beautiful and interesting buildings to choose from!
For the evening we moved down to the barn and courtyard. Having a separate evening space enabled the band to set up at their own pace. The 13th Century barn looked amazing and was the perfect back drop for our guests to dance the night away. Many of our guests told us what a fantastic venue it was!
Marie was our wedding coordinator, helping us at every step in the planning. She was super friendly, quickly replied to our messages and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to help you plan your perfect wedding. The museum staff were were incredibly helpful and friendly both on the day, and during set-up.
